Metallurgist Olympics are held to raise young people's
interest in the Company and identify school leavers with a strong potential to participate in the scholarship program. The Olympics are held by OJSC Severstal
jointly with the metallurgical department of the Cherepovets State University
for 11th grade schoolchildren. An individual agreement is concluded with the
winners. It guarantees employment according to the area of expertise at the
integrated works upon completion of the training, as well as payment of scholarship.
Working with undergraduate students
A scholarship program to promote quality education,
motivate advanced students trained in the following areas: Metallurgy, Mining
Engineering, Heat Power Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Applied
Physics, Chemical Engineering of Non-Organic Substances and Fuel.
Special-purpose agreements. Annually, the Company sends,
to specialized vacancies in the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys and Saint
Petersburg State Polytechnic University, students with whom OJSC Severstal
enters into individual training agreements.
Working with young professionals
The Young Professionals adaptation program aimed at accelerating entry into the job, reducing possible mistakes relating to entry
into the job, creating the Company's positive image, and evaluating the employee's qualifications and potential during the adaptation period.
Participation in the adaptation program begins as from the young professional's
employment by the Company and consists of social adaptation (up to 3 months):
introduction to the team, working with the mentor, professional adaptation (up to 2 years): training and development events, adaptation training,
participation in conferences and scientific and technical councils, defense of the creative assignment, and a young professionals' contest.
