According to the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the state enterprise Cherepovets Iron and Steel Complex acquires a new status. It is registered by the municipal administration of the city of Cherepovets as Severstal joint-stock company. |

The first meeting of Severstal's shareholders is held. The Board of Directors is elected and headed by general director Y. V. Lipoukhin. |
