Lynn Shanks Appointed New CEO of PBS Coals Inc

PBS Coals Inc., a leading provider of metallurgical and steam coals and a subsidiary of Severstal Resources, the mining division of OAO Severstal, today announced the appointment of Lynn Shanks as CEO of PBS Coals. He began February 18^th, 2010.

Prior to joining PBS Coals, Mr. Shanks served as president at West Virginia-based Pocahontas Coal Company and Carter Roag Coal Company; both are subsidiaries of United Coal Company. Mr. Shanks has also held high level management positions at other coal companies in the Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania areas.

Alexander Grubman, CEO of Severstal Resources, said: “I am pleased to have Lynn Shanks join PBS Coals. For almost 30 years he has worked in both an operational and executive capacity in the sector and brings with him a vast wealth of knowledge. I’m excited to see what develops under Lynn’s leadership.”

Mr. Shanks earned a degree in Mining Technology from the University of Kentucky and is a member of the Pennsylvania Coal Association, Holmes Safety Association and Pennsylvania Coal Board.
