OAO Severstal introduces a unified health, safety and environment protection policy
Moscow, 22 April – OAO Severstal (“Severstal”) has announced the introduction of the Unified Health, Safety and Environment Protection Policy, which will ensure that each and every Severstal employee takes responsibility for the welfare of others and the environment.
The policy stipulates that all employees should strive to prevent damage to the environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, use energy and natural resources in an economical and rational way and efficiently manage industrial waste. The heads of each division will be responsible for ensuring the policy is adhered to.
Ivan Bobrov, Head of the Health, Environmental & Safety (HES) Department, OAO Severstal, said: “Severstal aspires to eliminate any harm to people or to the environment at all stages of our operations, and our adoption of this policy represents a milestone in our continuing efforts in this hugely important area.”
