PAO Severstal has been ranked second out of the most competitive companies in the global metallurgical industry, according to World Steel Dynamics. The company has risen four places in the rankings since last year.
In 2017, 37 companies were assessed against 23 criteria, including; profitability, financial stability, innovative production, raw materials, marketing efficiency and sales organization. Severstal achieved a cumulative score of is 7.79 points across these dynamics, an improvement of 0.38 points since 2016. This year Severstal was highly commended for its vertical integration and very low slab production costs.
Alexander Shevelev, CEO of Severstal, said: “Severstal always strives to maintain its competitive advantage, despite the challenging market conditions. We are constantly working to improve the company’s efficiency and are pleased that this has been recognised by World Steel Dynamics."
Korea’s POSCO was given first place for the eighth consecutive year, with a score of 8.31 points. American company Nucor took third place and NLMK was placed fourth.
