The Awards are presented annually by the Association of Independent Directors and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, in partnership with the Moscow Exchange, PwC and Sberbank. They recognise personal contributions made by board directors to ensure Russian companies meet the highest standards of corporate governance. The awards ceremony was held in Moscow on 21st November.
Artem Bobulich, Corporate Secretary of PAO Severstal, commented:
“This award is for the whole team and we are extremely grateful to the professional community for its recognition of our work. Severstal maintains its commitment to the best international standards of corporate governance and follows best practices in working with investors and in terms of transparency and disclosure, ensuring an increase in the market value of Severstal shares and shareholders' profit. This award is an incentive for us to keep improving our corporate procedures and the corporate governance system of the Company as a whole.”
Oleg Tsvetkov, Chairman of the National Association of Corporate Secretaries, presented Artem Bobulich with the Award.
In addition to Artem Bobulich, Severstal Board members Alexander Auzan, Alun Bowen, Philip Dayer and Vladimir Mau, were recognized in the list of Top 50 Independent Directors.
The winners are selected by a committee of 22 experts, made up of representatives from leading Russian corporations, the investment community, professional associations, and previous award winners. A long list for the 50 best independent directors, 25 best chairmen and 25 best corporate secretaries is compiled at the first stage of the selection process and the expert committee then narrows it down and chooses its winners.
